Across the safety, security and protective services sectors, the contribution of women continues to shape the future of the industry. From fire safety, workplace health and safety, security operations, and emergency services, more women are stepping into leadership, technical and operational roles – bringing new perspectives, expertise and experience.
Ahead of International Women’s Day, professionals from across the sector gathered at 116 Pall Mall in London for the Celebrating Women in Protective Services event, hosted by the International Professional Security Association (IPSA). The event brought together voices from fire and rescue, security, policing, and military to recognise the impact women are making across protective services.
Throughout the afternoon, speakers shared candid reflections on their careers, offering insight into both the opportunities and the challenges women continue to face in these industries. Many spoke openly about the importance of resilience, mentorship and creating supportive environments for the next generation entering the profession.
The speaker line-up included Jess Phillips MP, Minister for Safeguarding, alongside representatives from organisations including the London Fire Brigade, City of London Police, ARC Monitoring, and Mitie. Their stories highlighted the value of representation and the importance of ensuring that women across the sector feel visible, supported and empowered to progress.

The network spans events including The Fire Safety Event, The Security Event, The Health & Safety Event, The Workplace Event, Pro Integration Future Europe and the National Cyber Security Show, bringing together professionals from across multiple sectors.
The initiative is dedicated to recognising, supporting and connecting women working across the industry, while also encouraging organisations to champion diversity and create environments where different perspectives can thrive. Through ambassador programmes, networking opportunities and dedicated sessions at industry events, the network aims to cultivate a supportive community where women can share knowledge, build connections and inspire others entering the field.
