The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) and Paul Ryan have reached an agreement which gives Paul the rights to operate fully supported franchise branches of the ASFP in New Zealand and Australia.

Following a year of consultation, the new branches will operate using the same model as ASFP in Great Britain and Ireland, drawing on more than 50 years of industry expertise while adapting to the needs of their local markets.

The expansion aims to strengthen collaboration across the passive fire protection sector, supporting professionals involved in design, construction, testing, certification, installation and remedial work, as well as those responsible for final building sign-off.

Alongside technical guidance, the branches will also provide training programmes, initially online and later in person.

Paul Ryan commented that the initiative marks an exciting step for the passive fire protection industry in New Zealand and Australia, highlighting the importance of strong design, procurement and installation practices to ensure building safety.

The transition will involve sharing knowledge and resources from the UK association, with plans to establish ASFP Technical Groups and adapt well-known ASFP publications for the new regions.

ASFP Managing Director Mike Ward described the move as a significant milestone for the global passive fire protection community, helping to connect professionals across different markets and promote consistent best practice worldwide.
