New CPD and VR Training from Britannia Fire

Written by Hollie Brackstone | Oct 22 2026

Britannia Fire has introduced a new series of FIA-certified CPD courses covering PFAS in firefighting foams, solar panel safety and lithium-ion battery fires, alongside virtual reality (VR) fire safety training.

The courses explore changing regulations around PFAS, fire risks associated with solar installations and how lithium-ion batteries can fail, including the development of thermal runaway. An advanced course also examines lithium-ion battery chemistry and behaviour in greater detail.

Initially, the sessions will take place at Britannia Fire's headquarters in Norfolk, with online workshops planned for the new year. In-person attendees can also tour the company's Norwich facility to see how its P50 composite fire extinguishers are manufactured.

Britannia Fire has also become a UK distributor for FLAIM Systems, which uses virtual reality and multisensory technology to recreate fire scenarios.

FLAIM FEX allows users to practise fire extinguisher and fire warden responses, while FLAIM FTS supports more advanced individual, team and incident-command training. The technology provides additional opportunities to practise decision-making and responses in a controlled environment, complementing live-fire exercises.

Matt Humby, Head of Client Support and Development at Britannia Fire, said the programme aims to help people responsible for fire safety keep up with emerging risks, new technologies and changes in regulation.
